Lux Perpetua Choir - our journey

This group of friendly, international singers (SATB), adults and students alike, practiced  weekly in the St Germain en Laye area.  Claire Lewis set up the choir in 2003 and led it on to perform a variety of works, including Fauré, Brahms, Rutter, Cherubini, Schumann, Schubert and Jenkins.  Our concerts were often held in the American Church in Paris, the Université Panthéon ASSAS and the church of Morainvilliers.  We performed at the UNESCO, le Temple and l'église St. Léger in St Germain en Laye, the Holy Trinity Church in Maisons Laffitte, St Marks in Versailles, as well as l'église Saint Louis-en-l'Île and the Armenian Chapel in Paris.  For several years, we joined the choir of the American Church in Paris and the orchestra Association Symphonique de Paris, and were often accompanied by TIAS (cello, flute and recorder trio).  We have also sung with the Brighton Chamber Choir both in Paris and in Brighton in 2012 and 2015.

Claire Lewis, who directed the Lux Perpetua Choir, trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has sung in many choirs, including the London Symphony Chorus and the Choeur de l’Orchestre de Paris. Recently retired, she taught English Literature at the Lycée International in St Germain en Laye. She took up the baton in 2003 when she started Lux Perpetua aimed at students, parents and teachers alike, and a number of our choir members still have close ties with the school.
